The Lizzards went to the old fort days tug of war and brought home the title in 97, 98, 99. Due to other obligations they were not able to attend in 2000. This year the Lizzards made their return in hopes of regaining their title. The Lizzards destroyed two teams and went up against a group of Eastern New Mexico football players. In their first match the Lizzards had the match within inches of winning but Drew Quintana collapsed with a knee injury right at that moment and the Greyhounds were able to pull out the win. The Lizzards went through the losers bracket and made it back to the championship which ended up being a mismatch as Drew tried to pull but was not at full strength.
